Confirmation of the artists taking place in 2019’s edition of Vidbir is expected in “less than a month” by UA:PBC, with the corporation also posting a number of teasing tweets regarding which acts may be part of the Ukrainian selection.

The news was confirmed earlier this morning in the above tweet, while the official Twitter feed for Ukraine’s participation in Eurovision has tweeted reminders of the finalists from Vidbir 2018 to promote the competition.

Vidbir 2019 will be the fourth rendition of the competition, which kicked off upon Ukraine’s successful return to the contest in 2016. Since then, the selection’s high quality and number of well-known participants has made it a staple in the Eurovision calendar for many fans.

So far, only two artists are known for the competition – Bahroma and Freedom Jazz – however more names are expected to be confirmed soon, with the full list expected in January. Tayanna and Kazka – the most streamed artist of 2018 in Ukraine – are also expected in the selection having been spotted in Ukrainian teaser commercials for the competition.

Vidbir’s first semi-final will take place on Saturday 9th February, with the second a week later on the 16th and the final pencilled in for 23rd February. A combination of an expert jury and televoting will decide the results of the competition.

Ukraine will be hoping to improve on the two most recent results in the contest, finishing 24th as hosts in 2017 and 17th with Mélovin in Lisbon. However, Ukraine remains as one of just two countries (with Australia) to have qualified every year they have participated during the semi-final era.
