Beovizija 2020 is just days away, but we continue to bring you interviews with the stars of the show. Tonight you will have a chance to meet Thea Devy, a girl with powerful voice. Thea was shortlisted to represent Austria, but unfortunately she wasn’t picked by ORF, but that didn’t discourage her, as Thea wrote the new lyrics in Serbian, applied for Beovizija, and now she will perform her song Sudnji Dan 4th at the first semifinal on February 28th.
Thea, tell us what did motivate you to apply for Beovizija?
My biggest motivation was the opportunity to present the song. I honestly think it deserved that chance. Also, my team and I really believe in my song and it’s message and we are very grateful to have been given the opportunity to present it and to compete at Beovizija.
How would you describe your song? Is there a story behind it?
It’s goal is to draw our attention to the selfish behavior of people towards nature and the abuse of natural treasures that we are given by this planet. The concept is, in fact, that through this poem Mother Nature addresses the world and it’s population and warns how exhausted she is.
Can you tell something about your performance? What are we gonna see this Friday?
Well I can’t say much, but what I can say is that we want to convey the song’s message in the best possible way. I think we are on the right track and the performance at the live show will be just as we imagined it would be.
How would you describe yourself in just three words?
I believe that I am humble, positive and grateful. I’m also not taking anything for granted.
Would be so kind to tell us something interesting about yourself?
Something I like to do in my free time is, as I am a member of Couchsurfing, to host travelers from all over the world in my home. Travelling is a big hobby for me and also I have the opportunity to meet a lot of new, interesting people and hear different, interesting stories, so when I go abroad, I am also couchsurfing at other people’s places.
Have you been watching Eurovision in previous years? Is there a song that you really liked?
Yes, I did, I am a big Eurovision fan and I watch it every year. I don’t have a favorite song but some that I love are Waterloo, Crno i Belo, Nije ljubav stvar, Rhythym Inside, Soldi…
And final question… What would it mean to you to represent Serbia at Eurovision?
Participating at Eurovision would make a dream come true. I can’t start to imagine or describe what it would mean to me to represent our country at the Eurovision Song Contest. Certainly, I would be filled with joy and pride.
