Ljubljana, 19 December 2021

Amidst all the JESC chaos, Slovenia broadcaster RTVSlo have revealed the plans for their upcoming national final, Evrovizijska Melodija (EMA). This also includes the mandatory cast reveal, whose identity the trickled in via their instagram account as the day went by.

Sixteen acts have been invited to compete for the Slovenian ticket:

  • Anabel – “Tendency”
  • Batista Cadillac – “Mim pravil”
  • Bowrain & Brina – “Čas je”
  • BQL – “Maj”
  • David Amaro – “Še vedno si lepa”
  • Eva Moškon – “Kliki”
  • Gušti ft. Leyre – “Nova romantika”
  • Hauptman – “Sledim”
  • Jonatan Haller – “Obzorje”
  • July Jones – “Girls can do anything”
  • Klara Jazbec – “Chasing dreams”
  • Le Serpentine – “Tud teb se lahk zgodi”
  • Manouche – “Si sama?”
  • Mia Guček – “Independiente”
  • Vedran Ljubenko  –  “H2O dieta”
  • Zala Smolnikar – “V ogledalu”

These sixteen acts will be joined by four acts from Slovenia’s wildcard round, EMA Freš.

The Slovenian selection show will feature three live broadcasts, each scheduled for February 2022.

There will be two semifinals, each featuring ten contestants, eight from the eternal selection and two Freš Wildcards. Each semifinal will see six qualifiers, three decided via a televote, the other three selected by an internal jury.

During the finale, a 50/50 split vote between a jury of five music industry professionals and a public vote will decide which of the 12 finalists will fly the Slovenian flag at the upcoming 2022 song contest in Turin.

The last edition of EMA, held in 2020, was won by Ana Soklič with her song “Voda”. After the cancellation of the 2020 contest, RTVSlo internally selected Soklič to represent them at the 2021 contest. Ana and her song “Amen” placed thirteenth in the semifinal, missing the finale.
