Tonight in Sanremo it was Covers Night! After three nights of hearing the original compositions of our 28 competitors, this evening was all about nostalgia and fun for the live audience. And it represented the unique opportunity for lower-scoring artists to rake in votes with a surprising or impressive cover performance, which could potentially boost their overall rankings.

Tonight’s guest host was the Italian actress and author Chiara Francini.

Tonight, all three voting groups – the press, demoscopic jury, and televoters – contributed to the night’s rankings. The top 5 covers tonight were:

  1. Marco Mengoni & Kingdom Choir – Let it Be
  2. Ultimo & Eros Ramazzotti – Medley of Eros Ramazzotti songs
  3. Lazza, Emma Marrone & Laura Marzadori – La fine
  4. Giorgia & Elisa – Luce (tramonti a nord est) and Di sole e d’azzurro
  5. Mr. Rain & Fasma – Qualcosa di grande

Once again, Marco Mengoni was the winner of the night!

With that, the overall ranking so far this week looks like this:

Other moments and highlights

The first musical interval was a nostalgic rendition of “Champagne” by Peppino di Capri, who has been entertaining for almost 80 years. He was also awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the city of Sanremo, a very proud moment for the star.

On the outdoor stage, we were treated to an energetic performance from the pop rock duo La Rappresentante di Lista, who have competed at Sanremo twice before – in 2021 where they placed 11th, and in 2022 where they placed 7th. Takagi & Ketra performed later on from the cruise ship Costa Smeralda and were DJ’ing a party in the pool throughout.
