A few days ago, the deadline came to a close, for submitting songs, to the Romanian national broadcaster TVR. Shortly after, it was then revealed that a total of 84 songs had been received.

Among the 84 songs that were submitted, 72 songs have made the cut for the jury auditions, which will take place between the 27th and the 29th of January. It is most likely, that the remaining 12 songs where ineligible to take part, due to breaching some rules, but this is not confirmed yet.

However, back to the point, 72 songs in total, they will compete for the 15 spots that there is, in the semi-final of Selectia Nationala. The full list is as following:

As it can be seen, some names appears twice on the list, which means these acts have applied with more songs. Among them, we see names as Tudor Turcu, Andreea Cristina Andrei & Adonis Boom, Teodora Dinu, Instinct & Klyde, as some of the competitors with 2 songs.

Included in the list is also other singers, such as MIHAI, as we all represented Romania in 2006 with “Tornero”, Ramona Nerra who tried her luck in Switzerland in 2016 & Sergiu Bolota who has a song penned by Stig Rästa who represented Estonia in 2015 along with Elina Born and the song “Goodbye To Yesterday”. To name a few of the names, that are in the Romanian competition.

Even the jury includes familiar names, as it has been revealed, that the jury will consist of Romanian Eurovision veterans. It includes both Paula Seling & Ovi, who together represented Romania twice in the Eurovision, back in 2010 & 2014. Luminita Anghel who represented Romania in 2005. Then there is Andrei Tudor who penned the Romanian Eurovision entry from 2008 & also Adrian Romcescu who penned the Romanian Eurovision entry from 1998.

These 5 names, we be the jury who decides, who will take part in the semi-final, but will also decide, which 10 acts will move on to the grand final.

The plan is as following right now:
27-29 January 2017 – Live audition in front of the jury and special invited fans.
5-11 February 2017 – Shows will be broadcast on TVR, as part of EuroShow
12th February 2017 – Semi-finalists will be announced
26th February 2017 – Semi-final will take place(The city has yet to be selected)
5th March 2017 – Grand Final will take place(The city has yet to be selected)
