If ever there was a more powerful advert for the benefits of involving yourself with Eurovision, let this be it – Pilou Asbæk, one of the Danish hosts of the 2014 contest, is set to join one of the biggest shows on the planet. The Dane has been cast as Euron Greyjoy in the upcoming sixth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Greyjoy is an uncle of the characters Theon and Yara and is the younger brother of Balon. He plays an important role in the George R.R. Martin series A Song of Ice and Fire, on which the television series is based, and as a result Asbæk looks likely to enjoy a new level of international fame as the portrayor.

Outside of this latest role, Pilou is also known for his performances in Borgen, a political thriller popular in many countries, and of course we know him as one of the two male hosts of last year’s contest in Copenhagen.

Best of luck Pilou!
