In a new series of articles, we will be looking at the 2017 participants and how they began their Eurovision journey. Not their 2017 journey, but from the first time they tried to take part in Eurovision. Basically we will be looking at the artists – Now and Then.

The first act we will be taking a look at is the representative of Malta, Claudia Faniello, who will perform her entry “Breathlessly” in Eurovision next month.

Claudia, the sister of two time Eurovision participant, Fabrizio Faniello, first took part in the Maltese national final back in 2004. Eleven entries later, Claudia finally won the right to represent her country in Eurovision.

Claudia’s previous attempts:

2006 – High Alert – 12th place
2007 – L-Imħabba Għamja – 7th place
2008 – Caravaggio – 2nd place
2008 – Sunrise – 3rd place
2009 – Midas Touch – DNQ
2009 – Blue Sonata – 4th place
2010 – Samsara – 8th place
2011 – Move in my mind – 9th place
2012 – Pure – 2nd place
