Hello Ethno Republic & Surorile Osoianu
First of all thank you for your time talking to us. How are you ? Can you introduce yourselves? What can you tell us about yourself?
Cornelia- Hi. Yes, free time is a big problem for us, but we are always glad to find time for an interview.
We are fine. My name is Cornelia Stefanet and this is my husband, leader of the project Ethno Republic Marcel Stefanet.
Iulia- Yes, hello dear readers, we are the Osoianu sisters. It`s a family ethno folk ensemble realized by us, Ileana, Iulia, Valentina, Maria and Romela Osoianu .
Marcel-What we can say about us, Ethno Republic is a project, which have been creating in 2016. In our group, there are more than 50 people. Together with the sisters, who are a part of the project too, have decided to unite the forces for participation for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Your song that you will be presenting for the national final in Moldova is “Discover Moldova”. What can you tell us about the song?
Marcel – We hope that we will present our song in national final, depend how people will support us in semifinal , but we are in a forceful mood – everything will be ok. The song “Discover Moldova” acquaint all foreign listeners with the Moldavian culture, music, traditions, dances, and for the Moldavian listeners – We want to reignite the love of country and wear our patriotic colours with pride. It`s a symbiosis of folklore and modern arrangements give to listeners a chance feel a certain lightness, simplicity.
Valentina Osoianu – That song is for all ages and it easy to remember.
Cornelia- For example, our daughter is 2 years old sings ” hai li li li”, so sweet.
What was the inspiration for the song, and did you write it specifically for the national final in Moldova and Eurovision?
We are looking for inspiration in everything that surrounds us. Yes, this song had written special for Eurovision because the project Ethno Republic was born in October of last year, and we have decided to declare ourselves also about the creativity; about our culture on such big platform as the Eurovision. We want show for people who are living in Moldova, how is important to be a Moldavian. That we can make our country better only together.
What is your impression of the Eurovision Song Contest in general? Do you watch it every year? What is your favorite entry?
Marcel- the Eurovision – is a music festival, where each country, each guest shows his face in public. It is important to understand that when an artist comes on stage, in the lower left corner of the TV write the name of the country – Moldova, and then the name of the singer, composer and the title of the song.
Cornelia- The Eurovision – is a fresh breath in life of the young performer. Thanks to this contest, the world has known about the legendary group ABBA, great singers as Celine Dion, Lara Fabian, Toto Cutugnio and others.
Maria Osoianu- Of course, no one will forget our good friends Zdob si Zdub.
Marcel- Maybe it`s not possible to watch, but we are always up to date.
Apart from the Eurovision Song Contest, where would you dream to do a performance?
Everywhere where is interesting and where we will be invited, we with pleasure will take part.
Has being on tv made you more self-conscious?
Marcel- I think that me and Cornelia -no, maybe Sisters – yes. (ahaha) It is a joke. In fact, we feel great being in front of TV cameras.
What’s your biggest fear?
We have no fears. You only need God’s power.
Where would we find you on a typical Sunday Afternoon?
Marcel and Cornelia- Sunday afternoon.. Most often at home, with our family, where a large table filled with a variety of dishes. You can`t imagine how the sisters are preparing Moldovan national cuisine, you should definitely try it.
Osoianu Sisters- “Zeama” best makes Valentina, she is usually the leader in our kitchen. “Sarmale” best makes Ileana. Meat dishes are well prepared by Julia, but for the cleaning in the house, this responsibility takes Romela and Maria. You are always welcome in our house, in our country.
What is a typical day like for you?
Marcel and Cornelia – It occurs the next way – we wake up, we see how our daughter smiles, it gives us strength and good mood, we discuss the plan for today and we start its action. It is very important to manage correctly the time; it is one of the keys to success of the person.
Osoianu Sisters – We have so happened, we live in the same house, and we start the day together. We wake up, drink a cup of coffee and think about what we need to do. Everything is as usual.
