In 2017, Moldova managed to qualify themselves back to the grand final after some horrible years with bad results, not only that but they even scored their best ever finish, which is a 3rd place. Then in 2018, they amazed Europe with a spectacular show and finished 10th. You’d think that people would be crazy to try their luck for Moldova, but that’s not exactly the case.

This evening, the national broadcaster in Moldova, TRM, finally closed their period for submitted entries. After more than a month for people to submit their songs, TRM could announce that they have received 28 songs in total.

Despite the popularity the country has gained lately, with 2 top 10 finish in a row, it still seems that the interest to represent the small landlocked country is rather low. If not mistaken, this should be a record low number of submitted songs, that TRM ever receives.

However, the show must go on, and just as planned, the national final will still be held. Both a semi-final and a final will take place, in order to decide who will represent Moldova in Tel-Aviv.

The selection will now be split into 3 stages, which is the live auditions taking place January 21st, the semi-final that is taking place on March 2nd and then the final which will be on March 3rd.

The selection will feature both well known and experience singers, as well as newcomers.

Do #YOU think that Moldova has some spectacular for us once again in 2019?
