The road to Stockholm officially begins on Friday, with SVT set to reveal 14 of the 28 competing acts in next year’s Melodifestivalen!

The contest, which will primarily be hosted by former Melfest favourite Oscar Zia and is the first of the Swedish selection shows under the tutelage of Karin Gunnarsson, is set to once again take place across February and March 2022. Five semi-finals in Malmö, Gothenburg, Linköping, Lidköping and Örnsköldvik will precede the traditional final at the Friends Arena in Solna, Stockholm.

On social media, host Oscar Zia officially announced that it would just be three days until the first news of artists, with the final 14 acts set to be revealed next Friday, 3rd December.

Popular Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet is once again hard at work with speculation on the names set to appear, with strong hints towards the return of familiar names such as Eurovision 2017 representative Robin Bengtsson, 2019 artist John Lundvik, Liamoo, Klara Hammarström, Malou Prytz, Alvaro Estrella, Linda Bengtzing and Anna Bergendahl.

Newer names on the scene according to Aftonbladet include TikTok star Theoz, famed hip hop duo Medina and DJ and singer/songwriter Cazzi Opeia. Their strike rate for rumours is normally strong, so expect to see some of these acts revealed over the coming weeks!

Five-time Eurovision champions Sweden made it ten finals in a row in Rotterdam earlier this year, with Tusse’s “Voices” finishing 14th in the grand final – albeit the lowest position for a Swedish representative since their 2013 hosting in Malmö.
