Congratulation are in order!

Pauline, the 12 year-old from near Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate, has won Junior ESC – Wer fährt nach Paris?, Germany’s national final, and will be representing the country in Paris at Junior Eurovision 2021! She defeated 10-year-old Marta and 13-year-old Emelie with her rendition of the song ‘Imagine Us’, an inspirational pop anthem.

Each of the three finalists performed the two possible songs that were pre-selected by the broadcaster, ‘Imagine Us’ and ‘Hausboot’. After each performance, a jury of three music industry professionals offered advice to the girls, but the ultimate decision was completely in the hands of the public. There were two rounds of voting. Pauline was selected as the artist after the first round of voting, and the second round of voting determined the winning song.

As previously reported, five finalists were initially selected by a professional jury, and the final three singers were chosen via an online vote. KiKa, the youth-oriented TV channel that airs Junior Eurovision in Germany, documented the three finalists’ journeys to the big night in a series of videos on their website. The video of Emilie, Pauline, and Marta being told they are finalists over Zoom is especially worth a watch. You can find it here.

On September 11th, Pauline will be appearing on KiKa Live at 8 p.m. local time to celebrate her win and chat with fans.

This is Germany’s second year competing at Junior Eurovision. It first appeared at the contest last year with ‘Stronger with You’, sung by the then 13-year-old Susan, finishing in 12th place.
