Måns Zelmerlöw will be changing his performance of the Swedish Eurovision entry “Heroes” after a copyright claim was filed against him.

Aftonbladet reports that the stick figure (pictured above) used in Måns’ winning Melodifestivalen performance was adapted from “The Alchemy of Light”, a projection mapping video dating back to 2012 by “A dandypunk”. The performance director for “Heroes”, Fredrik ‘Benke’ Rydan has said;

We wanted a stick man symbolizing the little boy in Måns’ story. I googled a bit and found the video quite quickly.

SVT has also quoted Rydan by saying that the performance will be changed in time for Eurovision;

Sure, I have absolutely been inspired by the figure that we have been approached about and although I reject that it would be a plagiarism, we can never predict the outcome of such review. Moreover, we have not time for that. Since the appearance of the figure is not critical for me it’s an easy choice to correct it.

As a result the little boy in the performance will be given new clothes to avoid further copyright claims. The claim has also meant that the official Swedish video on the Eurovision YouTube channel has been removed and replaced with the lyric video until further notice.
