According to Portuguese Eurovision fansite ESCPortugal, the program director of the Portuguese national broadcaster RTP, Hugo Andrade, has confirmed that Portugal will take part in the 60th edition of the contest, held next year in Austria.

RTP has yet to officially confirm through any of the usual channels whether they will take part or withdraw once again but it seems to be a positive sign in favour of Portugal staying. It is currently unknown how a hypothetical Portuguese entry would be selected but it seems likely it would be through another edition of Festival da Canção.

Portugal took part in 2014 after a year out of the contest due to financial reasons. Suzy’s entry “Quero ser tua” did not manage to qualify for the grand final. Portugal’s last final was in 2010 and to date the country remains the longest participating without a single win.
