Is Odessa the front runner for Eurovision 2017 now?

While most of us were expecting the Ukrainian capital of Kiev to take the hosting rights for 2017, rumours are circulating across various websites that there may be a surprising twist in the selection still to come! According to the Russian-language Ukrainian paper Segodnya, MP Borislav Birch has confirmed that Kiev “does not have the readiness to host Eurovision” and that the choice now lies between Odessa, a coastal city on the Black Sea, and Dnipro lying to the east.

We expected the host decision to take place earlier in July but both the EBU and NTU want to take the time to make the correct decision. A decision on 2017’s host city will hopefully be taken before the end of the summer so Europe can start preparing for next year’s show.

What do you think – should Kiev be in the running or are you looking forward to an Odessa/Dnipro show?
