The 2017 Eurovision season is starting to take shape, and countries all over Europe are already getting all prepared for the new season of national finals. Today Denmark took that step, and announced that the city that will host Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 2017, will be the city of Herning, and the show will be hosted in the Jyske Bank Boxen.

Eurovision fans might remember this arena, as it was one of the main contenders to host the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2014, but eventually lost it all to Copenhagen and Refshaleøen back then.

The main focus for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2017, or in short – DMGP 2017 – is to repeat the success, which Denmark had, last time Boxen in Herning hosted DMGP, which was back in 2013, when Emmelie De Forest won the competition there, with her song “Only Teardrops”, and even went on to win the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö as well.

The city of Herning has also hosted DMGP back in 2009, back then, it was hosted in the MCH Messecenter Herning.

The artist and song that will represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, will all be decided on the 25th of February. Here will 10 performers battle it out for the chance to represent Denmark, somewhere in Ukraine.

The deadline for song submission has already passed in Denmark, so of all the songs that has been sent in, 10 of them will be picked out to compete. 6 or 7 entries will most likely be from the submission of songs, while either 3 or 4 entries will be specially invited as wildcards, as how it has been in DMGP the last few years now. In charge of all this, will be Mich Hedin Hansen, also known as Cutfather, who has been in the music industry in Denmark for many years. Cutfather was also in charge of the selection for DMGP, last year.

More details has still not been revealed, such as how the winner will be picked, if a jury will be included and much more is still unclear. Tickets for the show will go on sale, starting from the 30th September 2016.
