Giorgos Kapoutzidis announces that he is no longer going to be the narrator for Greece

To date Giorgos Kapoutzidis has covered more than 10 editions of the contest as his legacy began in 2013, in Sweden. He also assisted ERT with the 2006 Eurovision semi-final and final by writing the show’s script, and presenting the 2013 and 2014 Greek national finals. But now, it seems that his Eurovision involvement has come to an end.

Speaking about the decision to step down as commentator, Kapoutzidis said:

“At this moment Eurovision is not something I care about. It is one of the things that I lived, had enough of it but enjoyed it while it lasted, and since I want to have a quitter and more balanced life in my island and the life I have made there, this is also one of the things that I had to leave behind so It’s my choice to leave.”

The same ERT source made aware that no decision has been made regarding the scenarios that call for Fotis Sergoulopoulos to replace Giorgos Kapoutzidis, in addition to Maria Kozakou, since the topic of Eurovision 2023 commentary has not yet been discussed. Instead, attention is currently focused on the process of choosing the next representative for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

Giorgos Kapoutzidis simply says that he will not participate in the commentary for Eurovision 2023, nor will he do so again in the future.
