The deadline for record labels and production teams to submit plans for Eurovision 2023 ended yesterday. We are seeing a great variety of participants who wish to represent Greece in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest following the country’s good track record and high expectations.

Two months ago EPT began the selection process to find its next representative for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. According to OGAE GREECE  it seems the number of participants may surpass last year’s — 26 artists and 40 songs. As the days pass, more and more artists verify their submissions and hopefully, everyone who wishes to represent the country in the next year’s contest had the opportunity to do so.

What are the names we have so far?

Evangelia has shared in the past her interest to represent the country, and last year she submitted three songs to the Hellenic Radio Broadcaster, two of which she released to the public this year. Onira and Paradise follow her roots for a Greek-English mixup which is perfect for summer. Now, getting back to this year it is still unclear whether she actually submitted her songs since there was a TikTok video confirming she was going to submit, but it got deleted.

Artemis Matafia is one of the candidates who submitted her songs early. Last year Artemis sent two songs for Eurovision 2021 but they didn’t have what EPT was looking for. This year she is back with 2 more songs, one of them being an ethnic ballad and one being more folkrore-ish.

Leon of Athens has reportedly submitted his song and it seems to be a dynamic pop song written by David Sneedon who is a very famous songwriter if you consider his contribution to songs from Lana Del Rey and One Direction. During his career he has worked with a number of top artists like Lauv, MARINA, and Portugal the Man, while also appearing in a number of international festivals across the United States and Europe.

Antigoni and Klavdia are Panic Records choice for Eurovision 2023. The desire to attend Eurovision was something that these two singers had recently mentioned in a number of interviews. Antigoni is a Greek-Cypriot singer-songwriter with a very distinctive voice. People in the UK may recognize her as she took part in the 8th season of the revived series of Love Island. Klavdia on the other hand may be known to some people from The Voice of Greece (2018) where she reached the final but didn’t get to win the whole thing.

Areti Kosmidou, is someone who is known to greek people since The Voice of Greece (2014), although she hasn’t released anything lately. From indie to EDM her song is going to be a pop banger. The song is written by herself and she insists on lyrics that have a timely meaning.

Since 2021 the country has entered the top 10 once again. This means that EPT will carefully assess all the submissions and choose carefully its next representative for Greece in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. Their last representative Amanda Tenfjord finished in eight place out of forty songs in Turin.
