Before Germany’s national selection today, we spoke with Voxxclub about their entry! Check out our interview with them below.
Hello! First of all thank you for your time talking to us.How are you?
We are doing absolutely great, thank you! There is so much going on at the moment, we bearly cant believe it. We started the new year with the release of our 4th LP and at the same time we found out, that we are in the preliminary round of germany for the ESC. We are super excited!
Can you introduce yourselves?
Our name is “voXXclub” vox is the latin word for voice and club stands for the group. We are 5 Friends: Korbinian, Michael, Christian, Stefan and Florian. We are all Musical- Actors and sang in different Musicals, thats how we met! Our passion is volksmusic with a modern style. So we mix the traditional Music from the Alps with fresh modern beats! When we are on Stage, you can see five Boys in Lederhosen dancing and singing. People say: Boygroup from the Alps.
What can you tell us about yourselves?
Well, voXXclub exists for 5 years now. We have become known with a flashmob in the mall on Youtube. Followed by many other flashmobs on youtube for example on a plane, in the subway and even in an elevator. We love to spread good feelings and put a smile on peoples faces. Beside making videos, we are all together on tour and doing concerts all over germany, swizerland and austria. At the moment we just released our 4th album.
We were nominated for each album for the biggest german music award, the ECHO. Last year we had more than 40 TV-Shows in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Also we travelled to Brazil, Italy, Slovenia, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg to sing and have gigs.
What is your impression of the Eurovision Song Contest in general?
The ESC spreads a very importent message to the world, that music can unite us beyond borders. No matter who you are or where you come from, everyone can be themselves! A very beautiful message!
Do you watch it every year?
Yes we do! We love Music and we love ESC! It is allways a big Party.
What is your favourite entry?
There are so many incredible songs and artists but we loved the russian Grannys, Mans with “Heroes” and Conchita. Pure goose bumps.
Whom is your personal musical stars that follow a lot and why?
Music is so diverse! We are listening to so many different music and genres. We are five men with a big range of music.
What is your biggest success so far for you?
We had our biggest succsses with the song “Rock mi” and the CD „Alpin“ wich got Platin- an Gold-Awards in Germany an Austria. Rock mi was also the “Wiesen Hit” at the Oktoberfest in Munich. It was unbelievable! We got messages from all over the world. We also performed at the Oktoberfest in brasil and also in Brazil it was the most played song at the festival.
What’s the one thing that might surprise people about you?
Many people are surprised that we are still so down to earth despite the success that we have. That is very important to us!
Where do we find you on a Sunday Afternoon?
We either spend the time with our families or we are on the stage and performe ;-
What is the best bit of advice you have ever been given?
The best advice was to always stay true to yourselve and follow your dreams no matter how hard it is.
If your life was a song title, what would it be?
Living to the fullest and enjoy life!
What is a typical day like for you?
The best thing is, that every day is completely different. We love the diversity of playing concerts, writing songs and record them in the studio or doing foto shoots.
