If I was an astronaut, I'd be floating in mid-air
And a broken heart would just belong to someone else down there
I would be the centre of my lonely universe
But I'm only human, and I'm crashing down to earth

If I was an astronaut, I'd have a bird's eye view
I'd circle 'round the world and keep on coming back to you
In my floating castle, I'd rub shoulders with the stars
But I'm only human, and I'm drifting in the dark

I'm up in space, man
Up in space, man
I've searched around the universe
Been down some black holes
There's nothing but space, man
And I want to go home

If I was an astronaut, I'd speak to satellites
My navigation systems would search for other life
But I'd be up here thinking 'bout what I'd left behind
'Cause I'm only human with the real world on my mind

I'm up in space, man
Up in space, man
I've searched around the universe
Been down some black holes
There's nothing but space, man
And I want to go home

Gravity keeps pulling me down
As long as you're on the ground, I'll stick around
Stick around
I'll stick around

I'm up in space, man
Up in space, man
I've searched around the universe
Been down some black holes
There's nothing but space, man, no
Oh, I'm in the wrong place, man
Nothing but, nothing but, nothing but space, man
Nothing but, nothing but, nothing but space, man

I've searched around the universe
Been down some black holes
Nothing but space, man
And I want to go home

Well it's certainly a statement. Looks like it could be very different from everyone's else staging.

It looks like there's no band, just him on stage, thank god.

EDIT: Okay there is a band but they are not at the centre of the stage, and Sam has an electric guitar.

The only downside to this is I'm going to be nervous as hell when the results come in for a change!!

Looks cool. Though the guitar and having a drummer on stage feels unnecessary. Just let him perform the song, we all know the instruments aren't live.

There’s talk of a revamped ending that Sam has been working on. I wonder if it just builds up to them just rocking out until the end.

I think that instruments suit this song very well. Everything I try to describe the entry to non-hardcore fans (they are waiting for the grand Final to get to know the songs), I end up mentioning Harry Styles or the Killers (they don't sound similar but the song gives me the same vibe).

I am shocked that the BBC seems to have come up either a cool, modern performance whilst keeping it real (portraying Sam as a singer-songwriter). I'm really curious about the 2nd rehearsal of the UK now!!

We lived enough to see UK having good staging, what a FLEX!
Absolutely love the guitar, hope they keep it!

It looks FANTASTIC. Gagged.

I agree we could lose the drum kit and keyboard... although of course haven't seen the camera shots yet.

I don't know if it's the best idea of the year or a car crash to be honest

I like it to be different but we'll only know when we'll have the snippet from the 2nd rehearsal and the full performance if it translates well to the camera and add something interesting.

I think that the staging defiantly makes for an impressive screenshot, but I want to see it all in action before I pass judgement on it. I wouldn't say it is a disaster just looking at it and it is a world better than the giant trumpets and the golden showers we are used to.

UK will be the commercially most succesful after the contest either way. It's extremely radio friendly but not bland, and ready for charts territory.

Other Eurovision hits will be one-offs on the charts, but UK has staying power.

It's probably worth pointing out that 85% of acts had 'terrible' or 'disappointing' first rehearsals with people tearing them apart - and then a lot of acts all had glow-ups with the YouTube footage.

This first rehearsal already looks very promising - and it will be ironed out and even better on Saturday.
