I adore Gareth Emery, he is definitely my favourite UK DJ/producer and I was so excited to finally bring him back to NSC after him taking us to the final quite a few decades ago with "Take Everything". The result this time around however is beyond everything I could have imagined...

And it's only a matter of time before Zaprya is no longer #1, which I think would be the first time since NSC 48. Zoidiac and Nightwishia are (as far as I can tell) the only other nations to ever have been ahead of Zaprya, but that was long before I started with the statistics, and it looks like Fervorosia will be the next.

Between failing to qualify, losing 86 out of my 116 semi-final points to non-qualifications, having my 12 in the final () finish with the fewest points overall, and seeing my 8-pointer () get DQ'd and lose a PQ spot, this was without a doubt one of the most personally devastating editions for me results-wise.

Thankfully a lot of that disappointment was reversed at the very last moment by the triumph of an amazing winning song, my 10-pointer. Congratulations (commiserations?) !!!

Okay, I'm dropping character for a moment to give a sincere reaction.

AAAAAAAAAH, HOLY SHIT, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU NSCCCCCC!

The core idea of bringing the Roffbeard character to life and doing a narcissistic bastardization of Row Row Row Your Boat is very old, I think I first thought about it sometime in the NSC teens, before my victory with Globus. It was very soon after Ugaly (the NSC 103 song) that I thought about it again and decided that if I make it to 200 editions, I'll make the Roffbeard song a reality for that anniversary. So this is a concept that has been in the planning stages for the last 8+ years, with most of the work creating it being done over the past six months.

Winning was never the main goal, not with this song, not with Ugaly^3, all I wanted was to do something very special for my anniversary in this very special contest that has meant so much to me in the past 15 years. I actually had serious doubts that this song would work the way Ugaly^3 did, how would the NSC generation of today react to a joke character from the early days that's barely been used in the last decade? Would it be accessible despite having in-jokes and references that people who joined NSC after 2008 probably wouldn't get?

Not only can I scarcely believe that I managed to repeat the feat of winning NSC with a homemade entry, I really surprised myself when I managed to actually make this entry a reality after so many years of full-time work stifling my creativity. Not being a teen anymore really means you don't have the time or energy that you used to. This was all done at home on a budget, with only the simple equipment I had available and some relatively cheap purchases, but I more or less succeeded in making this pretty much exactly the way I had envisioned it over the years (compared to Ugaly^3 which, while I managed to tell the story I wanted, was recorded in a rush the last two days before deadline and was very very very simplified from the original concept). This song has become a symbol to me for breaking my own barriers, and it means more to me than I can put to words that the intended audience has responded to it this way!

Amazing song and video with sooo much creativity, wooow this is just insane! Even my mom absolutely loved it and it even managed to raise her spirits. Oh yes and it was my 12, so I'm just super delighted about such a winner. Well deserved and well done!

As for my own result...hmm. You know, "Western Rust" has been some kind of my very special lucky song, I previously took part with it in 3 different contests and was 2nd, 6th and 7th. Who could have thought that it's going to be 15th in NSC, where the average music preferences are much much closer to mine? Ofc I'm not complaining, 15th is a nice result, I'm just trying to investigate a mystery (but I suppose it's still useless, so nevermind).

Yep, Insomnea was criminally underrated! It was such an unexpected favorite for me. It caught a little of my attention at first, but I needed a couple of listens to realize brilliance of this composition. Knowing full results, I wish I had given it 12 instead of 10, as it would at least avoid last place that way (excluding ftv)
