Skin as rich as the starlit night
Your rhythm is rebellion, your rhythm is rebellion
Deep currents running in the rivers of your eyes
Your rhythm is rebellion, your rhythm is rebellion
They spat on your crown and they poisoned your ground
Your rhythm is rebellion, your rhythm is rebellion
They burned your heroes at the stake
But your voice will echo all their names
This ain't the end no
It's the birth of a new age

Yu no man broko mi
Yu no man broko mi
Yu no man broko, broko mi

Soul blazin' like a hurricane
Your rhythm is rebellion, your rhythm is rebellion
Spirit roaring wild like untamed flames
Your rhythm is rebellion, your rhythm is rebellion
They buried your guts, they imprisoned your thoughts
Your rhythm is rebellion, your rhythm is rebellion
They tried to drain you off your faith
But you are the rage that melts the chains
This ain't the end no
It's the birth of a new age

We are the fruit born in the legacy
Of every forgotten revolutionary
Born in resilience, proud like a lion
We are the birth of a new age

Yu no man broko mi
Yu no man broko mi
Yu no man broko, broko mi
Mi na afu sensi

Jeangu Macrooy - Birth Of A New Age - The Netherlands

I was taken aback when I've heard this song for the first time, but the more I liste to it, the less impact it does on me. I love the choir and that non-english parts, but, I don't know, it misses something, unfortunately.

:nl:‘s song is the only grower for me this year. All other songs have either faded during the past weeks or have been staying where they were from the beginning.

You have to be in a mood to feel this. It’s not something for on-the-go listening. It’s cozy and comfortable and the song as well as the singer come across as friendly and lovely. It’s a welcoming song; be our guest in the Netherlands, embrace different cultures, it’s the spirit of togetherness. This song could as well have been their intervall song. They don’t want to win with it. They just take the opportunity to show diversity.

It‘s that kind of campfire song you‘d listen to at a music festival and Eurovision is one. The focus is on people celebrating together (more or less together this year) instead of sending a bop or sth hip. I love the calmness of the song, at no point this is going crazy, even in the chorus. It’s all lovely traditional music.

This song also grew on me. The televoters won't embrace it, I think, but it is so much better than many songs this year. I will be looking forward to it!

Love the song, but i feel like this really isn't "working" in the stage context, maybe the full performance will seem different though.

This is one of the only songs which was elevated for me after seeing the staging. I love how vibrant and fresh it looks, and Jeangu is extremely comfortable on stage. I'm not sure it will do particularly well but I'm sold.

I like it quite a lot. The refrain is catchy, memorable, and the overall vibe is really good. I agree with AlekS, one of the best host entries in a while.

7 points from me.

The chorus makes me think of The Lion King and I like this part but most of the song doesn't sound that interesting.
