Then I will kick off speculation by suggesting Karen Debattista . I loved 12 baker street in MESC 2015. "Memoirs" is quite good too.

We definitely have similar tastes I thought Karen's Baker Street was really lovely last year and I was sad to see she finished last or something in the final. It sounded fresh and different compared with most of the manufactured options they had imo.

I guess it's highly unlikely that a song of this kind can win the Maltese national final though, but I hope there'll be more musically interesting entries next year in Malta.

I really liked "12, Baker Street" too, so different from the typical song we see in their NF! Hopefully she'll return with an even better, but still original, entry in 2017

I presume everyone's much more focused on JESC at the mo and we'll hear something after that.

Whenever Malta get around to making a call for songs, I'm sure the likes of Jessika, Daniel Testa, Deborah C, et al will be ready and waiting.

i was hoping we would do what we did in 2014 and have the NF a week after JESC because we had a big venue...

i have a few friends who have already said they will not enter which annoyed me because they are great...

I spoke with people such as Joe Roscoe about entering and they said no.. I think Joe would be great

Malta will have 100% televoting on the national final this year

Other new aspects of the NF will be announced when the new rules are published.

I think now it doesn't better because they will do like in 2016. They will only keep the winning artist and change the song (to buy a swedish one).

I think it won't be the case in 2017, since there were found a lot of financial irregularities in Ira's promo. And that's why Attard was fired from PBS' CEO.

Good move. They are usually overrated by jury in ESC and now they try to pick something that attracts viewers

I don't think it's a entirely good move. 2013 and 2014 wouldn't have won the NF if it was 100% televoting, and 2013 was their best result in the last decade. I think 50/50 is the way to go. But definitely not 5/6 jury 1/6 televote like before!

"ohn Bundy, the new CEO of local broadcaster PBS, has only allocated 5 hours on Wednesday the 30th of November to submit entries. The first 3 hour window is between 9am and midday. The next two hour window is between 2pm and 4pm. During this time artists will need to be sure their songs are ready for submission."
