Can we have Melodifestivalen kids please and have Dolly Style participating again with Rollercoaster and win the whole thing.

I'm serious about a Melodifestivalen Kids (even though it's maybe too much competition and stress for those poor gremlins)

Think Iceland is one of the few Eurovision countries that has never taken part in any of the other Eurovision 'Family of Events', so would be interesting if they debut.

So are the UK returning like all the rumours were suggesting several months ago??
Wales aren't in it anymore after all...

If I remember correctly the UK won't be returning to the contest till 2023. So it is a shame that Wales won't even get one final hurrah at the event this year.

Do we know which UK broadcaster may get involved with JESC in 2023, or are the EBU talking to all of them? BBC hasn't really taken part in any of the other 'eurovision family of events' for a while, unless they were the host broadcaster, ITV hasn't been involved since JESC 2005, and Channel 4 has never had any involvement with Eurovision. Wales' S4C appears to have given up unfortunately.

The Sunday afternoon slot may work against it as well, as bigger audiences would watch on a Saturday evening, and CBBC, the BBC's children's channel, will be moved to online only in the next few years

It's really strange that Germany won't take part due to "new travel restrictions".
Kika will be broadcasting the contest live, though, and they want to be back next year.

The ratings were poor in Germany last year, but if they are still broadcasting it, that suggests they may well intend to return, rather than using travel restrictions as an excuse (is it due to the situation in Ukraine?), the EBU will be disappointed to lose one of the Big 5 this year,

Not because of Ukraine

"There is currently a warning against travel to the entire border area with Azerbaijan and the Nagorno-Karabakh region."

“There are demonstrations across the country in Armenia, especially in Yerevan. Avoid demonstrations and large crowds of people over a wide area.”

Now this is actually a big deal and tbh given its still a long time until the contest, a bit of a lame excuse. They could've still select an entry and decide to stay home Montaigne-stye if the situation will remain like that in three monts I am sure the EBU would've allow this. That way it seems more like some more country will follow suit.

So we are just waiting on :kz: Kazakhstan, who have said they will take part if invited, :az: Azerbaijan, who will likely sit out this year, and the as yet unnamed potential debut.
So potentially 15-18 Countries this year, which is decent.

With Kazakstan it would be only 16 countries. Would be a step down, we used to have 19-20 countries for 3 years. :(
