Still shocked tbh

the sis better bring the more innovative sound (for local market) Hebrew songs than those boring American-pandering ones
(unless she gives up and they move it to Mergui)

The fact that her management agreed to do this without her seriously knowing is a massive kii though, I bet she was busy cursing the hell out of her manager or something.

Either way she keeps promoting her huge concert in August so unless we get sudden news of her withdrawal she'll probably start focusing on it from September.

I think it's really interesting how this case has brought my attention to the fact that Israel has managed to be quite successful the past several years despite being very inconsistent in their selection process. It almost seems like they aren't satisfied with sticking to one format (granted, this probably has a lot to do with changes in the broadcaster), which I imagine is playing a large role in the apparent disorganization of 2023's selection process.

For reference, here's how they selected their entry the past 10 contests:
  • 2013: Traditional national final (Kdam)
  • 2014: Internally selected artist, public votes on 3 songs
  • 2015: Artist picked via talent show (HaKokhav HaBa), song selected internally
  • 2016: Same talent show as previous year, but top 4 get a Eurovision song and public votes for artist + song combo
  • 2017: Same process as 2015
  • 2018: Same process as 2015 & 2017
  • 2019: Same process as 2015, 2017, & 2018
  • 2020: Artist picked via HaKokhav HaBa, public votes on 4 songs
  • 2021: Artist picked internally (same from 2020 bc COVID), public votes on 9 songs, then a narrowed-down list of 3
  • 2022: Talent show (X Factor) narrows down artist field, audience + professional panels vote for artist + song combo (simplified explanation)
Not counting the 2021 COVID situation, it's been 9 years since the Israeli representative was selected internally. Maybe that has some correlation to 2023's internal selection process being so chaotic.

They keep on milking this on Noa's team while promoting her concert, my bet is that we'll get an official confirmation right after (or even during) her big concert.

Noa just confirmed her participation!

I had to put my ego and concerns aside. I’m not used to being in a situation of competing with people

Recently, I also learned about the risks, and that not everything falls and rises on artistry and performance, but in a decision from the heart, I put all that aside and go out with complete faith. I’m setting out to bring great honor to the country.

not Noa and her team paying 600.000 euros for esc participation. and KAN will only give 300.000.

she must be rich haha...

she also claimed that she will use israeli songwriters even though songwriters of world calibre approached her and her team.
she also may use some hebrew lyrics but the song will for sure feel israeli/ethnic.

I hope that's true, I much prefer her Israeli/Ethnic stuff over the leftovers from British commercial pop she's been releasing for an international market.

Sounds amazing... but often have been disappointed after such kind of news, so trying not to be too optimistic

i'd be really sad if they withdraw now... especially with Noa Kirel.

(if they withdrew when they had MBD I wouldn't mind lol hahaha)
