Holy moly, I only went out for around 3/4 hours and when I returned I had 3 unread messages in my inbox I better leave my house more often
Anyway, thank you very much Kai, Nikos and Eulaiya
After first two votings it was still difficult to see any tendencies but the three votings I received this evening clearly showed which songs stand a chance to represent Iceland in WV 69. The result looks similar to what I expected in beforehand it just hurts to see one song doing bad that I thought would fight for the win.

Yes, it's true. There are three songs being equal on points at the top of the ranking. However, one of this songs received already three in addition to one and one . A very polarizing one for sure!
Moreover one can see a huge gap between place 4 and 5.. I doubt that any of the songs on place 5 to 7 still have chances to win the NF.. it's between the trio at the top and maybe the 4th place as it's not far away ... But I see just one more person who might give it 12

Rigth now Im enjoying my retro collection a lot. If I stay in this retro mood I will just send all seven songs within the next seven editions However, then you will get multiple heart attacks and I will destroy my qualification rate, so it could be bad for both of us

After five votings I complaint that one of the songs that I thought would fight for the win is bloody underrated and close to the bottom. However, after that it had a wondrous comeback and became second place and as you see it wasn't far away from winning the NF

I can't believe my favourite song won the NF here. I really had a feeling that this one would struggle. All the songs here were wonderful and I would have been pleased with you sending any of them, but it's nice when your top pointer wins. For some reason this song has such a whiteshoes feel and I can't even put my finger on why I can only imagine you sending something like this. I hope you can get back into the final again after the great John Grant robbery of last edition, that has still left me traumatized and quivering with fright. Good luck Floxcrossed

I was a bit more confidence regarding the chances for this song after I saw the reactions in the voting messages I received. But final? Wow...

Qualifying to final with a Icelandic song of the 1970s is like passing the major challenge, I am very happy about this

I think I can especially thank my homosexual friends. I know most of them do love woman with strong voice, singing melancholic ballads about sorrow and so on.

I decided for my next WV artist a long time ago and I can announce it's a returning artist, a band to be precise. It's a while ago when they took part the last time (it was in one of the 50s editions) and it won't certainly be their last appearance.

I still didn't decide if I'm gonna do a little National Final (consisting of 4 songs) or if I go with an internal choice. The song that I would send internally is very haunting and I know people who would be happy about having this song in WV but at the same time it's not very accessible and I consider it risky. In a National Final there would be songs that might be more promising in terms of success and I adore them extremely. It's a very difficult decision and I struggle with it right now. If I actually decide for a National Final you will get to know tomorrow evening at the latest

Welcome to Iceland’s first Sigurkeppnin!

Sigurkeppnin is a brandnew concept of the IWVC (Iceland Worldvision Commission). It’s basically an ordinary Icelandic National Final with one specialty: It only consists of songs from the Icelandic cult band Sigur Rós.

What can people expect of this concept? Well, Sigurkeppnin is a journey through the discography of this very special post-rock band. This concept proceeds chronologically. Since Sigur Rós’ debut album Von from 1997 was rather underdeveloped and the only good song (the title song) was remade and polished in a later album anyway I’m gonna start with Sigur Rós breakthrough album from 1999: Ágætis Byrjun.

As I wrote before Ágætis Byrjun (translation: An alright start) has been the breakthrough album of Sigur Rós both comercially and critically and brought them international popularity.
This album‘s instrumentation contains the cello-bowed guitarwork of lead singer Jonsi and lush orchestration, using a double string octet amongst other orchestral elements. Ágætis Byrjun offers a full range of different moods: Melancholic (Starálfur), rough and dark (Ny Batteri), soothing (Svefn-g-Englar). Stylewise it‘s the typical Sigur Rós sound but it has also influences of Jazz (Hjartað hamast) and Folk (Olsen Olsen).
Ágaetis Byrjun came out of nowhere but quickly gained radio exposure in Iceland, finally resting at the top of Icelandic album charts for a number of weeks. The album subsequently gained strong international buzz with numerous articles in many prominent publications, hype from internet message boards, as well as often exuberant critical praise. Ágætis byrjun was released in the United Kingdom in 2000, and in the North American market in 2001.
The American magazine “Roling Stones” ranked Ágætis Byrjun the 29th best album of the 2000s and Pitchfork even placed them at 8 of their Top 200 albums of the 2000s. The album was also included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. (I personally recommend this book. Thanks to it I got to learn great albums that I didn’t know before).

I picked my four favorite songs of this album. One of these songs is so dear to me that I am a little scared to have it in this selection but I think it’s time to finally overcome my fear.

Yes, all songs are longer than 5 minutes but then again there are only four songs in this selection. That‘s something, isn‘t it? I just hope that everybody who is willing to take part is gonna hear the songs completely. You can‘t judge Sigur Rós songs after only three minutes of listening. Some of them have a slowly build-up before they finally explode so you need to hear every second of every song.

I return to one of my former voting systems. In total you have 15 points that you can allocate to the four songs in the way you like. Only restriction: Your have to give at least 1 point to every song. So, the most radical voting for supporting one song would be: 12-1-1-1. The most balanced voting would be: 4-4-4-3.
