Now, its likely that he actually won the semi.
Then #3 is even more unfair than it already was.
Actually just 5th in the semi but 9 points away from 2nd.

I've got a helluva crashout planned when this comes top 3 in the televote and does surprisingly well with the juries, and I think that's what we're hurtling towards unfortunately
Sorry to all who are waiting on this but 1) was I right or was I right and 2) I have bigger crashout fish to fry

So proud and happy! That one point might be a bit haunting, denied the split screen, but we all know he's the true televote winner.

I'm quite surprised this did so well with juries when other novelty acts are usually crucified.
One of the reasons, he was so viral that the jury knew he will do well with the televote and can stop Israel from winning. The other part this is the most played Eurovision song on the TV in Bulgaria, I guess he is popular at other places in Europe too, they just recognized him and awarded him points.

His vocal in the final was better than the semi and obviously a good staging to a catchy tune. So it will be remembered, though not as much as the legendary Subwoolfer of course.

He did and is definitely getting the most love from the public so I guess he is the moral winner, now fully belonging in the Käärijä-Baby Lasagna-Joost gang lol. Käärijä pitched a tour with all four of them as a joke in the recent w*** interview with him and Baby Lasagna, but that would actually hit so hard lol I want to see it. What's wild is I think this is definitely one of the biggest discrepancies in terms of general public and eurofan love I've ever seen

With that placement, he might be invited back next year for the interval. I'm guessing Israel might be passed over despite being 2nd - too much hassle

To people not understanding the jury score.... i always thought he can't do worse than Olly Alexander did with his quite abysmal performance. Tommy Cash is known in the industry.
The song was played in radios in some countries, it's a marketable and innovative and quite lovable song. Yes, it's complete trash, but it's damn good trash.
At least some of the jurors must have realized that he seemed to be the only one who didn't have a backing singer or vocals coming from the fono, his body was in constant movement and he still sang alright, absolute respect on how hard he must've worked on that.
And then of course there's the whole parody, satire and trolling aspect in the performance, it was just too good to set aside.

Maybe the juries knew that there was public momentum behind it with streaming, tiktok etc and wanted to reward it or be seen to 'support what's popular'

Such a monkey's paw year. The artist I've hoped to see at Eesti Laul for a decade finally does it, wins it by a big margin, does extremely well at the Eurovision, BUT it is a silly novelty song that in no way represents his overall output and Eesti Laul in general is at the worst it has ever been.

Anyways, happy with the final outcome. 2nd or 3rd place, while being seen as the "true televote winner" and avoiding all the aftermath drama.

I am, however, really disappointed of seeing the smear and disinformation campaings against Tommy from several outlets, including Ukrainian ones, as if they got all their lines directly from Kremlin. Shame.

I hated his performance in semi final, but something in the final really clicked and I enjoyed it.

I was in Basel watching the show in the hall (and later in the town) and this one really made people happy, they really loved it.

I don't get those comparisons. Käärijä had largely a party/joke song, and I didn't think Baby Lasagna's song was a joke at all. Windows95Man was nearer to what Käärijä did, one came out of an egg and one a box.

Right Estonia, you proved to us that you like to do joke entries successfully (2025) and less successfully (2024). Can we have something different next year please?

That is not up to you. We will send what we want to send out of the acts that will participate at Eesti Laul. This year proved how important it is not to listen to the fandom and go for what we want instead. If there is a fun act we love we will send that, if there is smth else we love, we will send that. It will be up to the people participating and the estonian people who are voting, not whatever the fandom wants from us.

In our 30 years of taking part, we only ever sent one joke song before 2024. Guess we're making up for lost time! Also fans have often complained about our televoters picking the most safe/bland/mid song available. Love them or hate them, at least our last two entries had some personality. :giggle: While many of our previous entries could be described as generic at best.

Personally I think it's been a fun little diversion, with pretty decent results to boot. :giggle: I'm not expecting us to send another wacky song third time in a row, really. Last two have been a lucky combo of catchy song with mass appeal and popular singers, I'm doubtful the lightning will strike thrice here. But I do hope, if we go back to our usual ballad/pop song mold, it'll be something really good that actually stands out! We've sent enough boring filler material. :giggle:

omg don’t be so sensitive! I didn‘t say: you have to. xfacepalm

But I‘m allowed to speak my mind even if I‘m not estonian, right?
