The verdict of the bloggers:
Benny: The song is definitely catchy. But it's too flat for me to really get excited about it. It doesn't really appeal to my sense of humor. Okay, but that´s it, and therefore far below the potential of Tommy Cash.
Berenike: "Espresso Macchiato" feels far too forced and unfunny to me, and therefore not funny at all. In fact, the song appears more as a troll than a joke entry to me. And because of that I don't like it. You aren't laughing with each other here, your're laughing at someone else. Tommy also doesn't look particularly likeable.
Douze Points: I'm open minded towards coffee specialties – as long as they contain (cow's) milk. If in doubt, I'll have an espresso macchiato as well. Especially when it's delivered as cheerfully as Tommy Cash's. The melody is as simple as it´s brilliant, and the performance is slightly crazy, making you want to hang on. The song's instant catchy quality was recently visible at a friend of mine who´s only moderately interested in Eurovision songs. Even though he'd only heard half of "Espresso Macchiato," he wanted to hear it again hours later. Okay, so he asked me for the "Cappuccino Song"". But still.
Manu: It was basicallly only a matter of time before Tommy Cash, who previously already worked together with Käärijä and Little Big, participated in the Eurovision Song Contest. Unlike these well-known names, Tommy Cash's musical style is rather tame: "Espresso Macchiato" turns out to be a cheerful pop number which should find its fans , also thanks to the unusual dance. I enjoy listening to it and especially love the songs first and by Andy Warhol's "Eating a Burger" inspired music video. By "Espresso Macchiato" itself I´ve already grown a bit tired though.
Max:
THE joke entry of 2025, no question about it. The song is catchy, the lyrics are completely bananas of for sure, but we're used to a lot of that from Tommy Cash. Combined with the quirky performance, it's of course one of the big favorites for the televoting, and most likely rightly so. I'm really excited about the performance in Basel – I've alreay had the song stuck in my head and on my playlists since December.
