We might as well not send anybody :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I think Germany showed this year that as long as the singer is talented, even a mediocre song can do well. Denmark hasn't sent a strong singer since Anja Nissen.

Alternatively, Denmark could go in a freaky direction like Ireland, but I don't see that coming.

I've been a Eurovision fan since 2007 and I think that was the last time Denmark went left-field...

With a schlager song, very camp. Musically somewhat similar to Fyr & Flamme that didn't qualify either.

They really have to step up their game, with every additional year they fail to reach the final it´ll be more difficult to find artists and to lure audiences for the GF on Saturday.

I wonder if this will be the year when Denmark "goes Ireland" and comes up with something noisy. There are things that speak against it, including what representatives of DR have said previously and the fact that Melodi Grand Prix has a broad appeal in Denmark meaning that mainstream songs will do relatively well in the televote.

What I would do, is to go for a strong singer as the first priority. There have been several examples in recent years of countries going to Eurovision with a feeble melody and yet doing well, mainly because the singer was good (Germany and France last year to name some).

At the same time, we've seen many strong songs - pre-favourites - that have failed to win the DMGP because the singers underperformed live (Cosmic Twins, Conf3ssion, Jasmin Rose etc). So please, give us some good artists to choose from.

I really, REALLY want to support Denmark again. So I keep my fingers crossed that Denmark will surprise us! When I was small, I loved the TV series Olsen-banden. I want Denmark to say: „Jeg har en plan“ and „Skidegodt“! So Denmark, do you have a plan like Egon would say? And Denmark will you send an entry that is damn good as Benny would say?

I’m usually just a silent reader on this forum, but after the Portuguese thread just brought to my attention that Mirza Radonjica was involved in writing HENKA’s absolute banger of a song, my lost hope of seeing Siamese (Mirza’s band) in the Danish selection has been rekindled, and I just had to express this wish again.

I recently went to one of their shows, and I can tell you that Mirza is an absolutely incredible live singer!

So PLEASE, make it happen!

I was rooting big time for SABA last year, and thought it was gonna qualify for the final. What a bummer! But in the hindsight, the lack of a strong scene precence and a quiet used (and maybe outdated) type of song did not make the cut for the final with the average Mr. and Mrs. Europe.
Hopefully DR has taken some notes about that, and found some courage to take more chances in their selection of songs, paired with some good performers!

Im quiet optimistic although with names circulating as entrants:

Tim Schou - https://www.herognu.dk/kendte/afsloring-han-gor-comeback-til-dansk-melodi-grand-prix-2025/5498793
Max Ulver - with a ballad written by Remee! - https://ekstrabladet.dk/underholdning/kultur/remee-vender-tilbage/10508179
(Anja Nissen)

Maybe we finally can have a proper good selection?

Max Ulver
He's got a decent voice - but there is not a single live video on his YouTube channel, so that makes me a bit nervous.

Tim Schou is a relatively good live singer, but not exactly a George Michael kind of performer.

Agree on both, and will happy exchange each of them for Anja Nissen just for the vocals

What I'm hoping for this year is especially that the televoters and the jury will pick the best song, and that the best song is going to be performed well by a strong artist.

I personally believe that Denmark would have done a lot better here in the 2020's if those two criteria had been met. People tend to forget that in some editions we've seen some great Danish entries that just didn't survive the transfer from the studio to the liveshow.

This is a list of songs that I think may have qualified if they had gone through from the Danish competition. Number one on the list is a bit special, because that song did win the NF, but never got to compete at Eurovision because of the pandemic. The bookmakers had it as a comfortable qualifier, and the results from certain contests pointed in the same direction.

I regard the top 5 of my list as songs that would probably have qualified for the Grand Final, the bottom half is slightly more questionable.

Ben & Tan: ”Yes” (2020) - by far the best Danish winner in this decade so far

The Cosmic Twins: "Silver Bullet" (2021) - the vocals were so bad that they apologized after the show, but Lise Cabble had written a real Eurovision banger here

EYJAA: ”I Was Gonna Marry Him” (2023) - the televoters didn't connect with it, but it was played a lot on the radio both before and after DMGP

Jasmin Rose feat. RoxorLoops: ”Human” (2020) - it was a pre-favourite for the win, but many things went wrong on stage with this one

Conf3ssions: "Hallelujah" (2022) - another pre-favourite that collapsed because of the nervousness and inexperience of the singers

Aura Dione : ”Mirrorball of Hope” (2024) - the televoters didn't support this one enough, maybe the song is too pretentious for the Danes, and it's a song that is hard to sing perfectly

Basim: ”Johnny” (2024) - he's a more confident singer than Saba and won the televote, but the jury went with the Melfest product

Josie Elinor & Jack Warren: "Let Me Go" (2022) - not my favourite on the list, but the sweet and simple melody would have had chances, I think

Emma Nicoline: "Står lige her" (2021) - from what I gathered on YouTube, this song was quite popular among non-Danish Eurovision influencers, but it didn't make it to the Danish top 3

Nicklas Sonne: ”Freedom” (2023) - this song was actually well-performed on stage, and although the melody wasn't impactfull imo, it received quite a lot of praise outside Denmark

The fact that good songs may lose out to worse songs in the NF's is, of course, an issue in all countries with NF's. But when a country tends to be a borderline qualifier, it plays a relatively bigger role.
