Which of these years do you think is stronger, and which song from each country do you prefer? Mine will come eventually, but for now I think the quality of songs was much higher in 2015.

I agree. 2015 strikes me as a very strong year, I liked more songs than in 2012-2014. 2016 is full of copycats which doesn't mean I don't like the songs. I like a lot of them but the overall quality has greatly suffered as everybody seemes to want catchy charts stuff and I miss all those traditional, funny, outstanding songs. The only one this year is actually Ukraine.

Overall, 2016 isn't that dreadful, but it lacks the wow factor last year had, despite having some terrible songs.

Is there any point to this thread this year? The difference is just so large. But I guess I'll do the list with the songs we have atm.

In order from the first semi onwards :

Armenia - 2016
Finland - 2016
Hungary - 2015
Moldova - 2016
Netherlands - 2016
Russia - 2016
Austria - 2016
Cyprus - 2016
Estonia - 2015
Iceland - 2016
Montenegro - 2015

Semi 2 -

Belarus - 2015
Ireland - 2015
Israel - 2015
Latvia - 2015
Macedonia - 2016
Poland - 2015
Switzerland - 2016
Albania - 2016
Belgium - 2015
Denmark - 2015
Georgia - 2015
Norway - 2015
Romania - 2015
Slovenia - 2015

Final -

France - 2015
Germany - 2015
Spain - 2016
United Kingdom - 2015

So the results so far :

2015 - 17
2016 - 12

Closer than I expected, due to semi 1 being packed with all the good songs.

This is not the worst year to come as some folks thought.
Well, especially when we have years like ESC 2013 (please don´t impale my head on a stake for bringing up that horrible year xsorry).

Well, here is my current problem with ESC 2016 (especially when compared to previous year): It lacks variety! When I listen to recap, I notice that there are way too many pop entries, many of them having that global mainstream production that can be heard on Billboard HOT 100 and similar charts, and lot of those entries I personally find to sound similar to each other.

Then, there are some stuff that are not pop entries necessarily, but are typically tailored for ESC (Russian song that literally screams: " Wait till you see my stage show", Bosnian ethno ballad for those who want some break from pop, Macedonia returning with an artist that can pretty much elevate ANY song that she sings to a higher level etc.).

Not criticizing or anything, but I do feel that everything feels less inspiring when compared to last year.

2016 is a bit ahead, as I expected (17-15)

I feel 2016 better than 2015 that was very disappointing imo, lots of ballads and if it's not undo-like i'm not very sensitive to it.

Of the 2015 songs, I'm only really like Russia, Hungary & Cyprus. The others are just ok or better than a tragedy from last year.

2016 by far. 2015 were an all time low, a terrible year by all accounts, also made worse by not having a clear winner. It went as far as almost killing my entire interest for Eurovision. Then things starts to falling into place in your life and you're back at it. Awww well.

Not sure how to answer this question. 2016 is a year free of ballads and I don't like it. :( Nevertheless 2016 is maybe better.
I've collected few songs for my music collection in spite of last year though It was difficult to collect my TOP-10 and many good entries I liked didn't qualify for Eurovision :( :mad:xgaah
But in spite of last year I'll be able to vote for my favourites. And I'll be able to vote for everyone of them because they're all in Semi-2 :D
+ 2 my favourites are already in the Grand Final :D (BIG-5)

To me the 2015 edition was the best since 2009... Even if I was disappointed with the winner.
