I wouldn't expect huge change from his replacement. A lot of decisions went through the reference group and tbh i'm fairly sure the EBU will replace him from their inner circle.
I’m excited to boo someone else next year if anything

Well, it wasn´t his fault that these countries were either sore losers or quit because of homophobia. xshrug

Yes, that's right - so why are fans blaming Österdahl for not bringing these countries back / losing Romania, etc.

We could come up with a chart of what went wrong under Österdahl or Ola Sand's reign - I think it would be pretty much evenly "bad".
You win some, you lose some - that's part of the game.

I can understand that hardcore fans think it's time to celebrate but the feeling of relief is totally "overblown" - especially since it's accompanied by referring to Ola Sand.

I think Carla Bugalho will be the next one.
She remains involved with the Reference group for ESC and JESC, a very high figure in Eurovision 2018, and is highly respected within the circle. Those running order spots from Bjorkman since 2024 were not random, and that is what we can see.
If it is not her, probably Alexandra from France or the Swiss head of delegation...

Switzerland ("You and Me") and Montenegro ("Igranka") - both songs were in the televoting's Top 5 and didn't qualify :(
Second-last with the juries for the former in SF2 just ahead of Bulgaria, that's one of the only few times I've actually disagreed with them

I am in no way under the impression that Österdahl’s resignation means that we’ll see a huge overhaul overnight. What I hope it does though is amplify the voices that have gone ignored (and even blocked/banned) over the last couple of years.

I hope what is learnt is this; if the next Executive Supervisor insists its business as usual, don’t get too comfortable. Listen to the fans, listen to the widely respected and recognised international bodies and courts. Stop intentionally allowing politics to ruin what should be the best night in TV for us as super fans by ignoring the elephant in the room.

As quickly as the EBU has turned its back on its morals and obligations, fans can turn off and disassociate just as quickly.
