Greek language news website Philenews has reported that CyBC, the national broadcaster of Cyprus, is indeed interested in returning to the contest in 2015 but that an official decision will be made within the next week or so. It is currently undecided as to what format a Cypriot entry would be selected with, but an earlier report by London Greek Radio suggested that the broadcaster wanted to select their 2015 entry with a national final, but this will depend on whether the budget would allow for both participation and a national final.

The news article also suggests that the broadcaster may seek to find a sponsor or a record label to fund the selection process. A representative for CyBC has not yet responded to ESC United to confirm or deny any reports about returning in 2015.

Cyprus was last represented at the contest by Despina Olympiou in 2013. Her entry “An Me Thimáse” did not qualify for the final, finishing 15th with 11 points. Cyprus’ most recent success was with Ivi Adamou’s 16th place in the final in 2012.
